| soooo...school is starting up again. today was day 2 of classes....i think they'll be ok. Theres no class i'm THRILLED about, but none that i despise either, so i guess its a good thing. The main bummer is that, other than 1 of my classe, i really don't have a class with many of my friends this semester. I think it will be fine as i get more into the semester but right now itd definitely be nice to get to hang out with ppl inside of class as wel as without. Our apartment is pretty sweet....we're still working on getting unpacked/decorated, but that should be all done by the end of next week. Its going to be BEAUTIFUL and you ALL are going to need to come visit and see it! So yeah, thats pretty much whats going on. Oh, im coming home 4 my birthday (aka this weekend) BUT, unfortuntely, the saline fair doesnt start until the wednesday after, so im guessing i wont really see anyone after all :( So thats a bummer too cause i miss u guys, but hey, thanksgiving will be here before we know it, right?! Well i should probly go work on my homewrk...theres not a ton to do yet, but enough where i should get started to keep it from piling up :) Toodles! | | |
| Summer so far has been really good :) Two of my friends from school came to visit over the weekend, and we got to hang out and have a good time 2gether...we made a spoof of those Mac vs. PC commercials. Its pretty hilarious...we basically blamed PCs for the fall of mankind (p.s. I LOVE my mac! can you tell? lol) On saturday we went to the Ann Arbor Art Fair with Andrea and walked around..there was some ridiculous/creepy/odd/flat out ugly stuf, but the majority of it was amazing! It was really inspiring to see all the different artistic perspectives, and i got really excited about some of the photography! I also saw Grace's play (Macbeth) on Sat. night. It ws well done, BUT i didn't like the fact that they had a Pentagram on the floor of the stage. It fit well thematically with the play, but it kinda bothered me, you know? Then on Sunday I got to see Priscilla for the FIRST time in 6 months!!! I was soooo excited to see her and hear about her time in South Africa!!! AAAH! Yea, I'm glad she's back Sat afternoon was Kyle's open house and i slept over. Today Andrea and i did a little shopping and then got manicures/pedicures...it was sooo relaxing and now my feetsies feel so light and clean and pretty! Its not something i'm usually into, but it was soo nice! 2nite Grace and some friends are watching Good Burger. Sadly I have never seen it before, so im totally pumped to see it tonight! peace out pplz | | |
| Yesterday was soooo hot where i work! The AC is supposed to be fixed in about a week, but it was so hot in that building yesterday that we decided that we would take the little kids to a movie in the afternoon so that they could be in a cool place. When we stepped outside the center to get on the bus, i was surprised at how cool it was outside. And then i realized that it was 90 degrees outside and that it felt cool because the building ws so HOT inside! Grace had someone picking her up from practice lat night, so I had the "day off" in a manner of speaking. So I went and visited Andrea...it was fun :) we ate dinner, watched Get smart and played around on their newish Xbox 360. And today it has cooled off an we're going to the fair! Good times :) So i was pulling weeds the other day, and some came out easily while others were seriously stuck in the ground. I basically just wanted the flowerbed to look good, so I didn't bother getting a shovel and diggin out the weeds that were super hard to get out cause that would have been a huge pain and taken a lot of energy and determination. So for a lot of them I just pulled the tops off so that you couldn't see them anymore, leaving their roots in the ground. I started thinkin about it and i was like, wow, that kinda how it is with us and sin, you know? Its really tempting to try to clean up our lives so that we look good on the outside, like we have it all together. Instead of rooting out the sin in our lives and actually taking it out at the core, don't we sometimes try to get rid of it at the surface, leaving it rooted in our hearts? I mean, its tempting to do this cause actually getting rid of the sin takes a lot of determination, energy, self sacrifice, humility and an even pain...but i guess when i think about it, just "cleanin up" on the surface is kinda worhtless. I'm going to have to go weed that flowerbed again in a few days cause I didn't do the job right, and there's only so long that I can disguise the fact that i pulled the tops off those weeds and left the roots there just so my flowerbed would look good temporarily. And thats the key word, temporary. When we leave sin in our hearts and just go at it on the surface levell, the results are temporary.... Idk, just somethin to think about i guess. Its funny the lessons you learn from pulling weeds! | | |
| So today was a ton of fun....we went over to Dans for the 4th and hung out with pplz, watched a movie, and ate healthfully (jk about that last part! Doghnuts, Doritos, Cookies...i was happy ) Tommorow shouldnt be to shabby either....I get to go to a tigers game (its part of my job...pretty sweet, if u ask me!) an then hopefully hang out (!!!) Also I was pondring someting... why do people pretend things are fine when they're not...why do we just tend to ignore stuff as if not acknowledging what's really happening will make it go away? Oh the illogicallity of it all! | | |
| Guess what time of the year it is? That's right! [drumroll pleez]
time for the annual MANCHESTER CHICKEN BROIL! When: July 19 Time: probly around 5:30 (I get off work at 4 and am going to try to get back by 5:30) How much: ?? not super expensive. I think its like $7...if you know ur coming for shure i can get you a ticket in advance
I'm going to leave the description up to Grace cause she describes it better than me, but its definitely a cultural experience, lol!
Also the MANCHESTER FAIR is from the 10-14 and we're probly going to try to go, so if ur interested, let me know
the weekend was good...we had our annual fourth of july picnic on Saturday, and the weather was really nice It was pretty chill (haha Nae, you know me well )...we hung out, played a little volleyball, ate some food, threw some eggs, danced a little ECD and lit a big pile of wood on fire (which Christina and I then danced around like tribal people, lol, good times!) Its kinda sweet cause for ECD I was trying to figure out how to hook both a mic and speakers up to my mac so that abby could call the dance, but it wasnt working, so my dad went to best buy to get a different mic while i called apple to try to figure out what was going on. He ended up buying this cool karaoke set as backup in case we couldnt get the mic to work with my mac. Wel, long story short, you have to have an externaly powered mic if your going to try to use it with a macbook (the mic we had was not externally powered), so we ended up breaking out the new karaoke machine and using it. Poor us, stuck with this karaoke thing (hahaha, NOT!!) Yea, so if ur ever bored just come on over and sing some karaoke, lol
In other exciting news, my parents leave for Tokyo on the 4th...so yea, that wil def be an adventure for them!
K have a good day pplz | | |
